Meet Thijs, Software Engineer at Luscii

Thijs is part of the team at Luscii that makes sure our platform works seamlessly with external systems. By focusing on quality, sustainability, and real-world impact, he helps build solutions that healthcare professionals can rely on—without adding extra complexity to their day.

Why did you join Luscii?

I was looking for a company developing their own software product, as those tend to focus on the quality and longevity of their codebase rather than just pushing out code and moving on. Another important requirement for me was doing something good for society. At Luscii I definitely found these and more, and that's what keeps me going every day!

What kind of challenges do you solve?

I work in a team focused on integrations with partner systems, which is often tricky because of conflicting requirements and interdependency. Integration is also a complex topic in its own right.

One of the issues we faced was state drift, where our webhooks arrived at the other system out of order or sometimes not at all. We solved this by reducing the information in the webhook message and providing a partner API through which they need to pull the latest state of a resource. This way they don't get stale data anymore, and they now have access to an API which provides new opportunities.

What impact does your work have?

Integration with partner systems is very important to the end users—healthcare professionals in my case—because we want to provide solutions that work effectively and efficiently. That means not giving them "yet another tool to work with". If we can enable the healthcare professional to work with Luscii data from an application they are already using, they will be happier and more efficient.

What’s your favourite thing about working at Luscii?

I love the high responsibility paired with the high degree of freedom in choosing how, where, when to work and what to work on. Luscii is really purpose driven, and it's up to us as individuals to interpret this purpose and do something meaningful with it. This means not only to take ownership of our code and features, but also of our agendas, priorities, personal development and almost any other aspect of work.

Any advice for someone thinking about joining?

If you're looking for a place to get the most out of yourself and contribute to society while doing so, Luscii might just be the place for you!

Meet Ana, Backend Developer at Luscii

As a backend developer at Luscii, Ana plays a key role in keeping our platform fast, reliable, and ready to support care teams across the world. From optimising APIs to improving system performance, her work lives at the heart of our technology—and helps create space for real care to happen.

Why did you join Luscii?

I joined Luscii because I was drawn to its mission of revolutionising healthcare through technology. The idea of building solutions that have a real impact on patients and healthcare professionals excited me.

What kind of challenges do you solve?

One of the biggest challenges I tackled was optimising our API performance to handle increased traffic from healthcare providers. We were experiencing slow response times due to complex queries and high data loads. I approached the problem by profiling the API, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing caching strategies, database optimisations, and asynchronous processing. This significantly improved response times and system stability.

What impact does your work have?

My work ensures that Luscii’s platform remains fast and reliable, allowing doctors and nurses to focus on patient care instead of technical issues. By optimising backend processes, I’ve helped reduce delays in data retrieval, improving the experience for both patients and medical staff. Knowing that my code directly contributes to better healthcare outcomes is incredibly fulfilling.

What’s your favourite thing about working at Luscii?

The culture at Luscii is fantastic—collaborative, innovative, and open to new ideas. The flexibility and trust in employees create an environment where we can do our best work without unnecessary bureaucracy. I also appreciate the tech stack we use, as it allows us to build modern, efficient, and scalable solutions.

Any advice for someone thinking about joining?

For anyone considering joining Luscii, it’s more than just a job—it’s an opportunity to make a real difference through technology. If you love solving complex problems and want to contribute to something meaningful, Luscii is the place to be.
